Another year older - #32

Today is my 32nd birthday.

I was woken up this morning by my sweet husband and daughter who sang Happy Birthday to me in bed.

They both looked so precious wearing their party hats that the first thing I said after I let out an "ohhhhhh" was, "I want to take a picture!" (However I wasn't allowed to get the camera until AFTER they sang Happy Birthday to me because Uwe wanted me to enjoy the moment.)

I'm still smiling about it hours later. It just made my day! *SMILE*

The 2 loves of my life.

What a wonderful way to wake up in the morning and acknowledge I'm another year older. It definitely takes the sting out of aging. How can I possibly be sad or depressed when the first thing I see when I open my eyes in the morning is my husband and daughter wearing matching party hats standing at the foot of my bed? When I think about Uwe's thoughtfulness and how sweet they looked together it makes me smile and get teary eyed at the same time.

Astrid looked so sweet with the hat on and she didn't seem to mind wearing it.

I found this site that has "how to say Happy Birthday around the world." There were two ways listed on how to say it in German, and then in Korean it had the Korean letters and the English phonetic spelling.

German:
Alles Gute zum Geburtstag.
Herzlichen Glueckwunsch zum Geburtstag.

Korean:
Saeng il Chuk ha hae

For my birthday breakfast Uwe made me homemade German pancakes and hot chocolate. Mmmmm. When I sat down to breakfast I noticed my watch had stopped at less than 10 minutes before midnight on December 20th. Weird coincidence huh? I got 2 birthday cards this year. The card on the left says "Happy Birthday to my wish come true." The card on the right is an inside joke in reference to the the movie comedy "Anchor Man" which alludes to one of my birthday gifts. "Get those guns in shape"...Ron Burgundy. For birthday presents I got a book, "The History of Love" by Nicole Krauss and a certificate for 10 private sessions with a personal trainer (something that I really wanted in order to get back into shape post-pregnancy).

Tonight Jill (Astrid's Godmother) is coming over to babysit Astrid, and Uwe and I are going to see "King Kong" at the ArcLight in Hollywood.

Happy Birthday to me!

Yep, Astrid kept the hat on and didn't try to take it off either.

Happy, happy birthday. I love the party hats--your husband is so sweet. We saw King Kong on our weekly date night last night--how did you like it?

Amy,
Here's what I thought of King Kong.
1) The dialogue was painfully bad.
2) Except for King Kong the special effects looked really fake. (Jurassic Park had better special effects and it was made over 10 years ago.)
3) The only aspect that was well done were the savages.
4) The best line of the entire movie was when Jack Black's character looked around the village and said, "They're only women and old people. Nothing to worry about." I might rent the movie just to fast forward to that scene.
5) The dinosaurs were distracting and didn't make any sense for them to be on the island.
6) You could have made a drinking game where you have to drink each time there's a closeup of Naomi Watts' face gazing off into the distance with a her mouth half open.
7) Naomi Watts was spectacular in Mulholland Drive (and should have won an oscar for that) and I think she's a talented actress, so I don't understand why she agreed to be in this mess of a movie.
8) The movie was too long. It shouldn't have taken 3 hours to tell the story.
9) Overall the movie was a big budget stinker.

Husband loved it. I slept through the first 45 minutes--not because of the movie, just because the babes have been sick and I've been getting no sleep. Once I woke up, I must have checked my watch 30 times. I totally agree with your critique--I kept wondering if Nicole Kidman was a little embarrassed for her best friend. I did think King Kong was unbelievably realistic, though.
