My list of seven things

I keep seeing lists on blogs, and I keep getting them from friends via e-mail. Although I love reading them, up until now I've never done one because they are just way too long. But finally I found one today (on Matthew's blog) that's easy to do. So here's my list:

7 things I want to do before I die:
1. Travel around the world
2. Build my dream home
3. Help my daughter plan her wedding
4. Play with my grandchildren (and hopefully great grandchildren)
5. Take a road trip through all 50 states
6. Own a vacation home in the desert (i.e., Joshua Tree)
7. Renew my vows (Yes, I plan on marrying Uwe all over again.)

7 things I cannot do:
1. Imagine a life without Uwe & Astrid
2. Become a Republican
3. Laugh at Dennis Miller jokes
4. Get enough sleep
5. Watch Jerry Springer or George Bush on TV (just too painful)
6. Cut my hair short (Uwe made me promise I would never have a mom's hairdo.)
7. Become President of the United States of America (I wasn't born in the US.)

7 things that attract me to the opposite sex:
1. Intelligence
2. Sense of humor
3. Curiosity
4. Wanderlust
5. Self-confidence
6. Thoughtfulness
7. Looks (gotta be honest!)

7 things that I say most often:
1. Hi Sweetheart. (to Uwe & Astrid)
2. I need to go to the store.
3. What do you want to do for dinner?
4. We're out of *fill in the blank* again.
5. Did you get my e-mail?
6. Did you read my blog?
7. Can you take Astrid so I can *fill in the blank*?

7 celebrity crushes:
This was tough. Most of the men I used to have crushes on are either a) getting a bit long in the tooth like Rutger Hauer from Bladerunner, and James Spader from Less than Zero, or b) just don't look like they used to like Russell Wong from The Joy Luck Club, and Chow Yun Fat from The Killer. Oh and then there's Robert Redford who belongs to both categories (long in the tooth AND doesn't look like he used to).

1. Ryan Gosling (Stay, The Notebook, Murder By Numbers, The Believer.)
2. Josh Holloway (Lost)
3. Christian Bale (Batman, American Psycho)
4. Owen Wilson (Wedding Crashers, The Royal Tenenbaums, Rushmore)
5. Ralph Fiennes (English Patient, Schindler's List)
6. John Robinson, IX (Lords of Dogtown, Elephant) No cradle robbing jokes!
7. Josh Hartnett (The Virgin Suicides, Black Hawk Down)

7 people I want to do this:
1. Uwe (my husband)
2. Nacken
3. Trailheadcase
4. Karissa
5. The Girl Can Talk
6. Jill
7. Beth (I know you love doing these.)

No way! I finally found someone else that understands my lifelong crush on Rutger Hauer! It began for me at the age of about 13. Everyone thought I was crazy to have a thing for an older man at such a young age--especially because he usually played psycho killers or mercenary types. I watched as many of his movies as I could get my hands on. Are you with me, Rose?

Trailhead, I can't believe you didn't tell me about Rose's Rutger crush!

Matthew,
Only if your brother's family can come too. Your sister-in-law (Tommy's Mommy) is really nice and has a great sense of humor.

Uwe,
You already wrote a book. Did you mean publish a book?

So I guess we will have a beach house and house in the desert.

I loved this one: "Spend the rest of my days with Rose". Awwwww! *hug*

And one of the things you say all the time before we leave the house: "It doesn't matter. Get ready." =)

Fullmoon,
I'm with ya on Rutger Hauer. He did win the role of the "perfect male specimen" in Bladerunner.

Here is some Rutger Hauer trivia:

1) Rutger Hauer was Anne Rice's original vision for Lestat when the book "Interview with a Vampire" was being written in 1976. Unfortunately when they they were casting for the film, they felt Rutger Hauer was too old for the part of Lestat; (instead Tom Cruise got the part). (The movie came out in 1994.)

Just think how much better the movie could have been? It's a d*mn shame.

2) Rutger Hauer is known as the Dutch Paul Newman.

3) Rutger Hauer was originally offered the part of the villain in the movie "Ladyhawke" but turned it down and expressed interest in playing the film's hero and got the part.

wow .. interesting way to find out that I have some homework to do :)

and like Uwe, I might have Nastasja Kinski on my celebrity list ... let's see ... I will get around to it once Julius is fever free (long story, will blog that once things are normal again)

Homework. ha! Fine, make me out to be the mean teacher Peter, but I still want to read your list. =)

Hope Julius is okay. I'm sure his body is still getting used to the temperature change from Fiji (hot and humid) to Italy (cold and dry).

I only just discovered Rose's Rutger affinity myself, you know, Full Moon. It's not as though I've been plotting to keep the secret from you in the grave fear that your odd crush will be reinforced.

Uwe, I'm with you on the tequila thing. I should have added "straight up" to mine as well. I do relish a good margarita, after all. And a good dog, too.

Oops--I got mine on Friday, too, and had been working on it--neglected to check back here and see you had done one. Seems we have a couple of things in common in the "things I want to do before I die category"

Karissa (mommy) said...

I will definitely have to do this one.

7 things I want to do before I die:
1. Sit with Julius on his first roller coaster ride, meet his first girlfriend, teach him how to dance.
2. Live somewhere in Asia
3. Sleep in
4. Do another long US road trip, trying to do all the states I have not done yet
5. Learn how to perfectly cut sashimi
6. Write and publish a novel
7. Threesome with Japanese twins (oh, wait, that was from Austin Power's list)
