Dodger game on an Easter Sunday afternoon

Today was our first Dodgers game of the season. It was great spending an Easter afternoon together at the ballpark. Uwe and Astrid standing in front of the entrance.

They've completely remodeled many parts of Dodgers Stadium, including the entrance. Every year we get season tickets and so Dodgers Stadium feels like home away from home, but this game I had to ask someone who worked there if this was the correct entrance because it looked completed different. The turnstiles are gone. They ripped those out and in their place put trees, and tables with umbrellas and chairs. They also built a new store near the entrance/exit where you can buy Dodgers memorabilia. They installed brand new seats as well. I also heard that they built a playground for kids (but I didn't see it when we were there). Finding our seats.
This is Astrid's 2nd baseball (Dodgers) game. Last time we went with her when she was really young, and with us being new parents we rushed out of the house and forgot our diaper bag at home, so we only stayed for half an hour. Understandably, at the time we were worried that Astrid would go potty and we wouldn't be able to change her into a clean diaper. (But we got lucky and had no accidents.)
The Los Angeles Dodgers played the San Francisco Giants.
We went with our friends Dave and Michelle. Michelle held Astrid in her lap while I fed Astrid her baby food. Dave is peeking at Astrid while enjoying a Dodger dog. =)
"Popcorn! Peanuts!"

I remember gong to baseball games (the Dodgers and Angels) as a kid and it was all about the food. Hot dogs, ice cream, cracker jacks, licorice, and cotton candy.

In the photo above Astrid is chomping on a plain pretzel with no salt. That's Barry Bonds in the background, on the mound up to bat. Uwe said I should take a photo of him because he's a legend. So I did. The crowd was chanting "STEROIDS!"
A close up of Barry Bonds getting a strike.
Thinking blue, looking up at the jumbotron.

I was so happy they brought the organ lady back. Last year they got rid of her and it just wasn't the same. There must have been an outpouring of support for her to be brought back (and outrage that they got rid of her), because they promised to bring her back and they did just that. The organ music and the lady who plays the organ (who you can see from our seats) is such a staple of Dodgers Stadium and Dodgers games.

Vince Scully is supposed to retire in 2 years. That will be a sad, sad day. He's the voice of the Dodgers and I've grown up listening to him. I can't imagine anyone else doing his job. I can hear his voice on the radio or on TV and immediately I know the Dodgers are playing. His voice makes me think of the Dodgers. He's also such a great announcer that you feel right at home listening to him and he makes it seem effortless to talk throughout a long baseball game even when there isn't much going on. Uwe says he's like a grandfather who tells you little stories about each and every player and the history of baseball. You settle in and go along for the ride. I get very sentimental when I think of him retiring. Astrid did really well. We stayed until the 7th inning stretch...sang "Take me out to the Ballgame"...and then headed home to bathe, feed and put the baby to bed.
