Astrid has a new swing/toy called the "Aquarium Cradle Swing" by Fisher Price. It was a bit pricey ($100), but a friend of mine gave it glowing reviews as her baby (Mara) that is just 3 days younger than Astrid loves it and stays entertained it in for hours. It helps when you're trying to wash dishes or do laundry or talk on the phone (and yes even to get ready to leave the house!). So in actuality it's more of a gift for her mommy and daddy. =)
When you're kid-less you take for granted having an uninterrupted meal, or being able to take a quick shower, or even watching your favorite show without having to double/triple task while keeping a newborn entertained (aka "please don't cry").
The swing is really cool. It has an adjustable seat and can swing either front to back or side to side. The attached mobile has fish hanging from it and a water globe that lights up and changes color, also with fish inside it. It's soundtrack plays music and different sounds (rain, waves, and a babbling brook). There's also a tray that attaches to the front of it with little plastic fish toys that Astrid can play with.
Astrid was so comfy in the swing that she took a nap in it this afternoon. Then when she woke up she enjoyed looking at all the new, fun stuff on her swing.

Too cute. We had a swing for Isabella but she never liked it. She would sit in it for about 10 seconds and then just start freaking out. I'm glad Astrid likes hers since it definitely helps to have something to entertain your baby when you're trying to do things.
I'm so glad you got the swing. Mara loves hers. Your right though, it's more of gift for Mommy and Daddy!
We had the aquarium bouncer and it was truly a gift from God! At first Sam just liked the vibration, then as he got older he got interested in the toys too. He slept in it, he played in it, and most importantly, he was HAPPY in there. I miss the bouncer days.
