This morning we depart San Fran and fly back to LA. Astrid crawling on our bed this morning. That's me in the background keeping tabs on the baby so she won't roll off the bed.Astrid is a great little traveler but Uwe and I never seem to get enough sleep as we can hear her all night in our hotel room and she doesn't sleep as well as she does in her own crib at home.
In our hotel room there's an area between the closet and dresser that stayed nice and dark and was separate from our room, so we at first put her crib there. But it was also near the door and Astrid would wake up at every sound (i.e., loud woman talking on her cell phone in the hallway, a kid running down the hall screaming "Daddy!", doors slamming shut). So I had to move her crib and couldn't have any lights on in our room or make any noise as to not wake her.
Last night, on our last night in San Fran, after putting Astrid to bed we called John's room and he left the phone connected so that we could use the phone as a baby monitor and go down to his room on the 7th floor (we were on the 10th floor) for a couple hours. The phone as a baby monitor worked pretty well. We could hear the sleepy sheep playing (ocean waves that lull the baby to sleep) and if she would have woken up and made noise we would have heard her. It felt like we were at home using a baby monitor and it was the first time both of us got to kick up our heels and relax. Astrid slept soundly and didn't even stir when we came back into our room. Here's our frequent traveler using a water bottle as a teething toy.A view of San Francisco from the air.A photo of the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. I thought I had waited too long to take the photo but it turned out pretty well with my digital camera.LA here we come!
