As I've documented, Astrid has been getting closer and closer to crawling everyday. Earlier today she got up and took 2 strides before toppling over.
Uwe was scheduled to leave for another business trip out of state so we thought we'd try and see if Astrid would crawl again, before she went to bed and before Uwe left for his flight. So we put Astrid down on the ground and placed a water bottle (one of her favorite toys) in front of her to see if she would crawl to it.
And she did! This time she really crawled. Not just a couple strides before toppling over but she was able to crawl towards and get the water bottle. Uwe and I were so excited we got our video camera out, put her down again and placed a toy in front of her and filmed her as she crawled to get it.
Boy were we happy that Uwe booked a late flight, so together we were both able to see Astrid crawl for the first time!
Uwe said it best when he wrote me from the airport:
"Just wanted to tell you how much I love you and incredible this moment with you and Astrid was today. It's so rewarding to see her crawling around. All this hard work, the sleepless nights, the crying sessions: all this was worth that one moment. That really rocked my world. God, in a few weeks she'll be in her pack and play and will get up on her own. So much more to experience."
See the play by play of Astrid's first crawl below.

Yay, Astrid!
Baylee is doing the military crawl. All I have to do is put the remote on the floor, and she's off.
