Today Astrid had carrots for lunch.
I had another tiny "baby's first" jar of organic carrots by Earth's Best, so I thought I'd give it a try and see if she liked carrots better than the peas from yesterday. The pureed carrots smelled really good (good enough to eat).
I found myself thinking of that Life cereal commercial where the little kid eats the cereal and the kids around him exclaim, "Mikey likes it! He really likes it!"
Astrid's really liked the carrots. The look on her face said, "Yummy". It made me so dang happy. To go from seeing her gag on the peas to savoring the carrots and wanting more was such a relief. So now I know she likes veggies. I'm going to keep trying with the peas too to see if she acquires a taste for them.
And since we're on the subject of carrots, here is some carrot trivia for ya:
1) Carrots are a good source of vitamin A (which is important for healthy eyesight, skin, growth, and resisting infection).
2) With the exception of beets, carrots contain more sugar than any other vegetable.
3) In the early 1800's, the carrot became the first vegetable to be canned.

Woo hoo for carrots!! It just goes to show you that she has good taste. I didn't like peas until I was a teenager, but always loved carrots, so I completely understand her point in gagging on the peas. I'd add to your trivia by saying that people who prefer carrots over peas are smarter and more attractive. Ok, so I made that up, but I'm living proof that my theory is true. ;)
