Tis the season

We have a radio station here in southern California, KOST 103.5 FM which plays nonstop Christmas music starting the day after Thanksgiving through Christmas. They market themselves as "your official holiday music station." It's been my guilty pleasure for years. My excuse used to be that I only listened to it while driving to and from work. Now my excuse is that it's good for Astrid to hear all the classic Christmas songs. It's great having a kid. =) Astrid giving her "peace on Earth" sign.

Some of my favorite Christmas songs include:
*Little Drummer Boy duet with David Bowie & Bing Crosby
*Blue Christmas by Elvis Presley
*The Chipmunk Song by the Chipmunks and David Seville
*Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree by Brenda Lee
*White Christmas by Bing Crosby
*Happy Xmas (War is Over) (aka So This is Christmas) by John Lennon

What are some of your favorite Christmas songs?Astrid has on her first holiday-esque outfit. She's sitting in her new booster seat by "The First Years". We returned the other seat that kept tipping over. This seat is great for her to sit up and play in, and there's a detachable tray table for feedings. Astrid loves sitting in it and watching Mommy and Daddy. My little holiday shopper.

Normally Uwe and I go away for Christmas. In year's past we've stayed at a cabin in the Big Bear mountains in CA, went to New York, and Hawaii. This year when Uwe asked me where I wanted to go, I said I wanted to stay home since it's the baby's first Christmas. I want to put up a tree, cook a turkey dinner and have a merry little Christmas with just the 3 of us.

I still need to get a "baby's first Christmas" keepsake ornament for Astrid, some mistletoe (for smooches with the hubby), and Astrid's picture taken with Santa.

Speaking of which, I guess a lot of kids cry when they see Santa. Thanks to Blog on a Toothpick I came across this site that has a Scared of Santa photo gallery .

"Nothing says Happy Holidays like a photo of sweet little toddlers screaming at Santa. The first 25 photos in this gallery are from the Chicago Tribune's "Scared of Santa" contest. All the rest of the photos were submitted by SouthFlorida.com readers. Enjoy!"

The "too much Eggnog Santa" and "Santa from America's Most Wanted" made me snicker. Some of the others are a hoot as well.

Since Astrid has been such a good girl this year Santa is sure to make a stop at our house. He'll definitely be able to find us since we'll be home for Christmas.

"I want a hippopotamus for Christmas." All time favorite, bar none.

The entire Charlie Brown Christmas CD. "Aspenglow" by John Denver. "Christmas Island" and "Mele Kalikimaka" (Both the Bing Crosby and Jimmy Buffett versions). And of course, Buffett's "Up on the Housetop (Share the Wave)."

I think I might have to steal this idea for my own site...:)

(By the way, we had the same booster seat. It worked so well we never even bought a high chair. We just fastened it to one of our kitchen chairs.)

Oh, and I forgot "Celebrate me Home" by Kenny Loggins. Too many favorites. :)
