Uwe took Astrid to her new Pediatrician, Dr. Henry today (thanks again Mike for referring us to him!) and she got her 12 month checkup and shots. This was a day of firsts: 1) the first time Astrid went to the doctor without me, 2) the first time Astrid got shots injected in her arms (instead of her legs), and 3) Astrid's first polio shot (which the nurse said was painful, even for adults).
Uwe said Astrid cried for 2 hours after she got her shots. I wish I could have been there to comfort her, but I'm sure Uwe did a great job.
Astrid's 12 month measurements are as follows:
Weight - 20 lbs 15 oz - 50th percentile
Height - 29 & 3/4 inches - 75th percentile
Head - 18 cm - 50th percentile Astrid received shots to both arms. Here you can see her Wile E. Coyote bandaid.
According to her Pediatrician everything's fine and she's in good health. He suggested we start feeding her more protein, like egg whites and yogurt.
Uwe said the doctor's office is a bit old and the rooms are smaller than our former Pediatrician's, however he felt much more comfortable with Dr. Henry and the level of care was much better, as was the information he provided.
Astrid has a little rash next to her mouth and without even having to ask the doctor about it, he recommended we apply a tiny swipe of vaseline (and it cleared right up).

I really dig the Wile E Coyote band-aid. I need to find some of those for my own little band-aid junkie.
