Today we went to Santa Monica to do some shopping and had brunch at a restaurant on Ocean Avenue called Ma'Kai. Ma'Kai has ocean views and Polynesian inspired food and decor. The furniture is made of teak wood and rattan.
This was our first time, but after having read an online review I found out that they also do a monthly luau on the last Sunday of each month from 3 to 7 PM. We were seated on the outdoor patio.Astrid fell a few days ago and has a big bruise on her left cheek.Behind Uwe is a view of the strand and ocean.Uwe introduces Astrid to an ice cube."Wow that's cold!"Astrid was getting antsy in her stroller, so we took her out and took turns holding her on our laps.
Here Uwe is making Astrid dance to the music."Don't worry papa, I've got rhythm."Astrid watching Uwe stir his decaf cappaccino. It's a nice sunny day. It felt especially nice since we've had so many rainy/cloudy days lately.Ahhh...could they be any cuter?I order the Island benedict, which differs from the traditional eggs benedict in that it has grilled pineapple and a different kind of bread instead of English muffins.
Uwe ordered scrambled egg whites with salmon, and a fruit salad.
We were seated at a low table (think long, knee level coffee table) so we didn't even think to ask for a high chair. While we were eating I held Astrid on my lap and we fed her a little bit of bread and fruit (which she loved!).
