Little Dodgers Fan

Uwe is a big Dodgers fan and we were really excited to bring Astrid to Dodger Stadium for her first baseball game. I had packed a light blanket for the early evening and a thick blanket for when it got colder later in the evening, along with a pair of long pants, a jacket, 2 bottles of formula, water, bibs, diapers, wipes, changing pad, and our camera. Yes, that's a lot of packing but when you have a kid you have to be prepared. We were all set to go.

So off we went. When we got there and parked the car, wouldn't you know it, Uwe and I realized we had forgotten the diaper bag at home. In the rush to leave, we both thought the other one had brought it. What could we do? We both had to laugh at our new parents status. Going back home and returning was not an option so we chalked it up to an "oops" and "note to self" and headed inside the stadium. We got something to eat and then left after half an hour.

We both agreed that we'll have to wait a little longer before enjoying a baseball game with Astrid. There's way too much noise in the stadium and there's no way that we would have a smooth feeding with Astrid. Plus, sitting for so long just isn't feasible at this point. A little disappointing but at least we tried it and know our limitations.

On our way out we checked out the Dodger baby merchandise at the gift shop. Oh my goodness, $55 for a tiny white onesie with the blue Dodgers logo on the front. What a rip off.

Uwe shares season tickets and has a handful of games to go to for the remainder of the season and there is a game tonight, but we will have to pass. Maybe next season.

Doesn't Astrid look cute wearing my Dodgers cap today? Our little Dodgers fan. =)

Astrid is a cutie! The Dodger thing, however, is a sad, sad thing indeed. I guess, growing up in L.A., it's forgiveable.

I grew up in the Bay Area and I'm a die hard Giants fan (but enough of a baseball fan to appreciate the Dodgers/Giants rivarly - I'm certainly not obsessive about it). Now that we live in San Diego, I'm sad that my kids will probably root for the Padres. =(

Congrats on your cutie!

Hi There--

Thanks for your comment on our site! I have to agree with Matthew (my brother-in-law) about several things. Cute baby for sure but, sad Dodger fan... ;-)

Also, must say, that April 19th is a very good b-day to have!

What's up with the Dodger bashing? I just go with my hubby to games but I must say LA Dodger fans are really laid back while the San Fran Giants fans take the game WAY too seriously. So many times at Dodger Stadium I've seen Giants fans standing up booing the Dodgers and being really obnoxious and the whole time I'm thinking "you're team is the visiting team and you're a guest here...sit down and enjoy your Dodger dog." The last time I saw an unruly Giants fan at Dodger Stadium he got pelted with peanuts before he was escorted out by security. Where are my cyber peanuts when I need them?

You must forgive us... We do get a little too crazy at times. I'll happily endure the cyber-peanut pelting, please just don't call security! I promise to sit down and enjoy my Dodger dog now. (Oh, and I commend you for taking her to a baseball game. We took my son at about 4 months old--I'm with ya on all the stuff to be packed!) :-)
