This morning I overheard U. asking her in German to put on her shoes and when she was done she said, "Schuhe an!" She also says "wasser", calls her German grandma "Oma", and counts from 1 to 10 in German.

We're trying to teach her to say "thank you" and "please" in German, but it's difficult when "bitte" has a dual meaning (please and you're welcome). So when we remind her to say "danke" she immediately responds with "bitte". Hahah. A bit confusing.

The "problem" is that the majority of the time she hears English being spoken. I wish I could enroll her in a class with German speaking children so she can pick it up faster. We're going to Germany again and hopefully she'll pick up more there - since mommy will be forced to speak German the entire time as well. =)

-RoseRosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10716790047260146358noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14001577.post-56373306373125820572007-09-07T16:32:00.000-07:002007-09-07T16:32:00.000-07:00How is her German? I would say Astrid has already surpassed him ... Good job!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14001577.post-74010760950403128652007-09-07T12:53:00.000-07:002007-09-07T12:53:00.000-07:00Rose- you really should write a book about all thi...Rose- you really should write a book about all this. She also needs us to repeat what she says word for word like Astrid. Glad to know Doug & I aren't the only parents warning their kid that they come across as slightly crazy. ;)Karissa (mommy)https://www.blogger.com/profile/05639833927271879718noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-14001577.post-35329487431009918152007-09-06T21:06:00.000-07:002007-09-06T21:06:00.000-07:00Hi !
